Great Restaurants in Bocas Town – Bocas Del Toro
Bocas Town is located on Isla Colon in the province of Bocas del Toro, Panama. Bocas Town is very small and for its size has some of the best dinner restaurants that can be found anywhere.
Be aware many of the restaurants are open Tuesday through Sunday and are closed on Monday nights.
Casbah is a small restaurant located on the main road just outside of the downtown. The food runs to the Mediterranean side, with large portions and usually three choices of how you want it prepared. The prices of meals are moderate ranging from $8-$15.
Nine Degrees, named for the distance Bocas is from the equator, is a very elegant restaurant located on the water in the Tropical Market building in downtown Bocas. The menu features primarily American style dinners. The menu now features a full Sushi bar and there is a great little bar upstairs that is a favorite of island expats and locals alike on Saturday nights. Prices range from $12 to $18 for an entrée cheap compared to comparable American and European restaurants.
El Ultimo Refugio
El Refugio is on the water at the end of downtown near the ferry dock. The food here is always fun and surprising, no menu, just a blackboard. They cook everyday so get there early before they run out of things. If they have buffalo calamari do not pass it up. The cost of a meal here is in the $12 to $15 range and the atmosphere comfortable and intimate.
Lemongrass is an upstairs restaurant overlooking the water. The food is Asian Fusion with a lot of great fish dishes and a great bar. You will be given a printed menu but always check the blackboard for specials. Prices for meals are moderate and the atmosphere is lively. One of the best choices for Dinner every night but Thursday (cause they are closed).
OM is an Indian Restaurant with a variety of traditional Indian dishes and a choice as to how spicy you would like to have your curry prepared. This restaurant is located upstairs across from the municipal government building on the park. Even our Indian visitors rate the food as excellent. Prices are moderate.
El Pecado is located in the Hotel Laguna, its third location that I know of, and it just keeps getting better, maybe the best restaurant in Panama. The entrees range from pizza to gourmet dinners with unique and delicious appetizers. Prices range from $8 for a small pizza to $18 for a dinner entrée.
Guari Guari is located out of town but an easy taxi ride and worth it. Recommended by Moon and Frommer’s Guide Books, Guari Guari serves a six-course gourmet dinner to those with reservations cooked to perfection. There is no menu but if you have food allergies or just cannot eat something let Guari Guari know when you make your reservation and they will adapt the meal that night to fit your needs. The price is $19.50 per person plus drinks.
