San Cristobal/ Bocatorito/ Shepherd Island/ Darklands Area

Most visitors will make a stop at Dolphin Bay to visit the family of bottlenose dolphins living here. Some will even make it for Sunday afternoon at the Rana Azul restaurant in the darklands, but there is much more to do and see in this underrated part of Bocas del Toro. On San Cristobal Island you can get close to nature on horseback and visit indigenous communities to learn about medicinal plants, traditional crafts, and their way of life. The Ceruti Chocolate farm gives tours of their farm, and there are several options for vacation rentals peeking out from the mangrove coasts.
